Cold barns are not a problem for EquiFount Waterers. This insulated extension tube allows the water line to enter from below without freezing. Rubber plug may be removed for access to water shut off valve.
Highly insulated tube shields incoming ground water from cold as it passes through the frost level. Polyethylene construction ensures years of trouble-free use. One 30-inch tube and 3 feet of 12-inch plastic drainage tile provides a sufficient heat well in most locations. For northern locations, two 30-inch heat tubes may be required.
Blue River’s Top Features:
This is the smallest waterer that Blue River makes. It will work perfect for a few head of critters. It has a shallow sloped trough so the water is always clean. This drain has a 1.5” brass drain plug.
We can make this tank and any tank shorter to accommodate smaller animals such as dogs, pigs, sheep, and goats!
The Cadillac of horse waterers! Everybody wants to use
these tanks down around Pilot Point, TX for their horses.
They use this tank in their mare motels and split it
between 4 stalls so 4 animals can drink at the same time!
This waterer has a shallow sloped trough so the water is
always clean. This drain has a 1.5” brass drain plug.
This tank is ideal for divided use between multiple
stalls, such as in a mare motel. Ask us for details.
This model has a nice 14” deep sloped trough with the recessed hood on the end, which is ideal for sick pens and small herds. This waterer is the smallest of our waterers with a drain sealed with a 3” rubber ball!
3 steps up from the 30CH with just about twice as much water. Also great for small herds. We have sloped the trough sealed with a 3” drain ball. We can make this tank and any tank shorter to accommodate smaller animals.
Perfect waterer for bed-pack barns, open lots and many other applications. What a lot of work that went into the design of the tank: recessed hood and the deep sloped trough. A HOT selling tank! This waterer is the first model in our line that comes in end hood or center hood.
The 66EH in this photo shows a 2” overflow riser pipe towards the drain end. We sell this type of tank by ponds, in feedlots, and deep pitted barns. It works really great! The constant flow style can be made in any size tank! The constant flow style waterer means the tank also has a trickle flow valve positioned just before the regular valve. This trickle valve / petcock valve allows water to trickle out creating a “river” effect overflowing into the 2” riser pipe. The overflow of water flows into a leach field, pond, or the pit of a deep pitted barn adding more water to deep pitted barns, if desired.
This model is SUPER big. It is wider and deeper. Customers like yourself love these because water is a cheap gain. It comes in an end hood or center hood with a sloped trough, of course.
This model is an excellent choice for large cattle herds and deep pitted barns. The 120” offers more space for cattle to drink at the same time. It comes in the end hood style only. However, this service door and end hood can be positioned so that you can access it outside of the cattle lot for animal free servicing as shown in the photo below, left! Yes, the doors on this tank are customized on the opposite side.
Wow! This is our brand new tank and we our proud to say that these tanks are in a giant dairy in Arizona and also in more local deep pitted barns! This tank is 168” long with a stainless steel sloped trough. It comes in end hood or center hood styles. The end hood can be built with a partition in the middle which can be sealed off in the winter. This allows you to fill and heat half of this waterer! Genius!
This tank is a miniature version of the 14’ with a sloped stainless steel trough. People use this waterer for smaller herds. The trough comes in end hood or center hood.
Water Supply Line - The water line and electrical line can be trenched at the same time. The horizontal water supply should be dug from the source of the water to the location of the tank. A 3/4” to 1” horizontal water supply line should be placed 4’-5’ deep or at least 1 foot below the frost line.
A vertical pit with an 18”- 24” riser pipe such as a tile drainage tube should extend from the horizontal water supply line and continue up to the water tank location. The 18”-24” tile is important to allow ground heat to help keep the water line from freezing. Keep the water line in the center of the riser pipe. It is best to insulate the wall of the riser pipe with your choice of insulation (batting, spray, polystyrene). Keep in mind that you need to keep insulation away from the vertical water line so the warm air can continue to travel up and around your water line.
A water shut-off valve from the water supply line should be placed where you can reach it through the service door. The water shut off valve should then connect to the valve barb using a flexible hose with hose clamps.
Electrical Supply Line - The electrical supply line can be trenched at the same time as the water line as this saves time and money. A ground rod should also be installed as per local code. The electrical installation should be connected by an electrician following local codes. See wiring video on our website or search YouTube for “Blue River Waterers Wiring 2017”.
Base - We recommend setting the waterer on a concrete base pad 6”-10” wider than your tank on all four sides. (see cover photo of pad) The pad should be 4” thick and sloped away from tank for drainage. Be sure to include an opening in the base pad for the riser pipe or tile drainage which contains the water line and electrical line. The base pad can be pre-cast which Blue River can build, just let us know. If you are not using a pad, be sure the ground is level.
Setting- Just before you set the tank in place. Apply waterproof caulk to the concrete under the tank, then set the tank on the concrete pad. Next, seal around the edges of the tank with the same waterproof caulk. This will help seal the inside of the tank and will prevent drafts.
Anchoring the tank can be accomplished several ways. In addition to the underneath sealing adhesive, you can use cement or Quikrete around the base of the waterer or use angle iron around the corners of the tank.
Wiring Information Electrical wiring should be completed by an electrician.
1. Thermostat and heating element both have ground wires marked with green. These wires should be connected to a ground rod per local code.
2. Make the circuit: take 1 red wire from the thermostat and 1 black wire from the heater, twist together into a wire nut. This will allow the thermostat to turn the heater on/off. (If you are using supplement cable heater or pit heater, add 1 wire from the supplemental heater to the wire nut)
3. Electrical Suppy Line: the remaining red thermostat wire should be connected to the white line wire from the electrical supply line. The remaining black heater wire should be connected to the black line wire from the electrical supply line. (also add the remaining supplemental heater wire with black line wire, if you are using supplemental heat)
4. Heating element, and supplemental heat will work together automatically with the thermostat. To increase the heat on the thermostat, turn counterclockwise. There is a stop. One Turn (left) = 70 degrees.
The thermostat must be submerged at least 1/4” to accurately measure water temperature. It is not designed to measure air temperature.
The 500 watt heater is pre-wired to plug into a GFCI outlet. Its built in thermostat is programed to operate at 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit water temperature. Pre-wired supplemental pit heaters are also available.
Eliminates concerns with last minute installation (i.e. ground frozen, etc.) "Perfect when winter catches you off guard!" Eliminates having to pay extra charge for short load of concrete Eliminates the concerns of having the ground fall away due to settling the next year and potentially undermining the pad, leaving a hollow spot. With EasyPad simply pick up the bowl, the pad, fix and pack the ground and you are good to go. Eliminates having to buy forming materials, steel and, of course, the labor to make a pad when the summer is short already. 7'6" x 6'6". Fully designed with steel reinforcement.
